Curtin University delivers a suite of programs to support innovators and their startup companies, and continues to develop initiatives to inspire and guide Western Australia’s next generation of entrepreneurs. To date, these programs have supported more than 440 startup ideas that have collectively raised $200 million in funding and sold products and services to the value of $215 million.
The Curtin INVEST Syndicate will focus on investment opportunities emerging from this suite of programs with an initial focus on Curtin’s Accelerate program. Curtin Accelerate is a free, 12-week program that helps innovators transform their innovative product or service into a thriving scalable business. Participants receive a $5,000 equity-free grant, access to Curtin University infrastructure and resources, networking opportunities, and gain the capability to build great products or services.
More than 60 businesses have participated in Curtin Accelerate, moving on to launch highly innovative products, receive substantial investment funding and win industry awards. Its 2024 cohort comprises 13 startups participating in a program led by Curtin commercialisation advisory board chair Larry Lopez. During the program, the cohort will learn from successful entrepreneurs and investors such as Rob Newman, Dr Marcus Tan, and Curtin’s Entrepreneur in Residence Marvin Liao.
