About

Curtin University has developed the Curtin Angel Syndicate to provide a mechanism for the founders supported through their Entrepreneur pipeline to access capital from angel investors drawn from the Curtin community, and for prospective investors to gain an education around the process of angel investing.

Curtin University is the largest graduating public university in Western Australia with an alumni network consisting of 280,000 national and international graduates and annual enrolments of over 50,000 students per year. They have a strong track record in research excellence with 95 per cent of our research output being rated at or above world standard in the last Excellence in Research for Australia results.

As a result of this, the scale of Curtin University supported by their dedicated Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship team enables a strong pipeline of deal flow. Over 100+ startup ideas are nurtured each year through their entrepreneur programs Curtin Ignition and Curtin Accelerate

The Curtin Invest Syndicate will focus on investment opportunities emerging from these programs with an initial focus on Curtin’s Accelerate program, which has supported over 60 companies to explore and adopt sustainable, scalable business models to take their innovative product or service to market.

Curtin Accelerate is a free program that runs over ten weeks for aspiring or established business owners wanting to grow their entrepreneurial capabilities and acquire tools to take their innovative product or service to market quickly and effectively The facilitators and mentors are some of the world’s leading innovators and startup founders. Previous cohorts have had the opportunity to learn from high profile individuals such as venture consultant Larry Lopez, Kanopy founder Olivia Humphrey, and angel investor Bill Tai.
